Outline of Research at the Start

トリケラトプスを含む角竜類恐竜類に特徴的な頭部形態が果たす機能を、熱生理学観点から理解することを目指す。まず、現生爬虫類の頭部血管系の知見を整理し、それらをもとに角竜類の頭部血管系パターンを推定する。更に、推定されたパターンをもとに頭部の各部位について外気との熱交換の効率を表すと予想される形態学的特徴を計測し、角竜類の種間および異なる成長段階の個体間での比較を行ってその機能発達の程度を評価する。
