Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This study has revealed the following three points according to the literature research. 1) In Vienna the 1820s to the 1830s, the number of the pedals of the fortepiano has increased by six or seven, after that it has reduced. 2) The number of works for piano four hands has also increased until 1826. This situation has maintained for 9 years, but after that it has begun to decline. 3) Therefore it makes clear that between 1) and 2) has a relationship closely. Also we examined a lot of combinations of the pedals in all of the works for four hands of F. Schubert. It has revealed the following two points. 1) That the space between the pedals is very close shows that we can use the neighboring pedals at the same time with only one foot. 2) It should be difficult to operate six pedals with only two legs, but it will be possible to maximize the effects of all the pedal when two players use their four legs.
