Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The operational method to identify Urban Area for a basic statistical analysis is explored in this research project. Urban Areas are operationally identified based on the areas composed of beyond 5000 populations grid squares. This mdbUA: meshed data based Urban Area is similar to DID: Densely Inhabited District which is previously used as Urban Area by Japanese Statistic Bureau. The 19 cities and their Urban Areas are defined around the Pacific Ocean belts and are analyzed according to population change. We can find the growth and the decline of these cities. As mentioned above, we can succeed in establishing the operational method to identify Urban Area.
