Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This research examines effects of the Japanese local government consolidations from the viewpoints of water supply services and land prices. In addition, we conducted a local government survey to reveal their self evaluation for their consolidations. Our results show that the consolidation improved local governmental management such as water supply services, whereas their residents did not evaluate the consolidations well because they simultaneously generated weak community ties. Therefore, when local governments intend to make a consolidation, they should pay more attentions on residents' satisfactions.
