Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The purpose of this research was to focus on women's physical education in Japan before World War II and to review the “image related to women's physical education" which had been discussed in previous studies. As a result of the research such things as (1) the relationship between women's physical education and the word “otenba” (tomboy), (2) the differences in statements and images about female physical education teachers and female athletes, (3) human relations among female physical education instructors and the genealogy of physical exercises and (4) common points in women's physical education in Japan and Europe before World War II have been revealed.
