Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The purpose of this project was to investigate the relationship between language use in Japanese translations and gender ideology in Japanese society. This was achieved by analyzing sentence-final particles quantitatively and qualitatively. The result of the analyses showed that Japanese translations function as a mediator of gender ideology. The outcomes were presented at five international conferences (UK, Canada, Belgium and Slovenia) and two domestic conferences, as well as at two public lectures. These presentations were developed into articles, and they were published in one international and two domestic journals, all peer-reviewed. Two more articles have also been peer-reviewed and are to be published as book chapters in 2016.
