Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This project has examined the dynamism of Hiberno-English, contact-induced language formation and change, and speakers’ awareness towards the languages spoken in the community. The examination has been used for an investigation of the continuity in a variety of Englishes; the project has especially focused on the relationship between Hiberno-English and Caribbean Creoles. The background of sociolinguistic awareness has also been examined for its importance in the study of Hiberno-English from a dynamic perspective.
