Outline of Final Research Achievements |
We succeeded in developing a high-precision noise cross-correlation measurement system, which is applicable for the shot-noise measurements on solid-state devices placed at very low temperatures. Creation of fractional quasiparticles in a local fractional quantum Hall system embedded in an integer quantum Hall system is detected using the cross-correlation technique. Moreover, energy dissipation in a quantum Hall edge state is measured using the technique in a re-partitioning experiment performed on tunneling quasiparticles. These result encourage us to investigate the fractional statistics of Laughlin quasiparticles in fractional quantum Hall systems.
