| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The purpose of this study was to clarify the relationship between pain and quality of life (QOL) in patients with juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA). For this purpose, 26 JIA patients aged between 8-18 years old and their parents were involved in the study. Survey sheets consist of PedsQL Generic Core Scales (PedsQL) evaluating for QOL, questionnaires evaluating for medical condition, visual analogue scale (VAS), and ‘the factors which affects pains’, were handed to the JIA children and their parents. The survey sheets filled by patients and their parents at their homes were collected by mail with consents for this survey. In conclusion, pain was the serious problem for the QOL in JIA patients. Since their self-disclosure of their sickness might be associated with better QOL, nursing care to promote their self-disclosure may be necessary for JIA patients with chronic pain.
