Research Abstract |
I completed a project on chimpanzee social cognition and interaction that required developing a novel shared touch-panel apparatus. Three pairs of chimpanzees performed collaborative and competitive tasks on the novel apparatus, and results from these studies have been written into three separate scientific journal articles. One of these articles was published, one is currently in review, and one is in preparation. The studies examined coordinated turn-taking and strategic reasoning in chimpanzees, and highlighted variable age-dependent propensities for responses to social cues. Findings from the studies are relevant to a broad range of academic disciplines including psychology, neuroscience, biology, ethology, and social science.
