Outline of Research at the Start

近代以前のドイツ・ヨーロッパで慈善・救貧の主たる担い手であったキリスト教会と、その影響をうけながらも独自の展開をみせた都市市民を中心とした慈善・救貧思想とその実践は、近代転換期以降「社会問題」の発生と産業革命の進展による未曾有の困難と挑戦に直面し、新たな時代への対応を迫られた。本研究では、19世紀を通じて「世俗化」原則に基づき近代市民社会が展開するなかで、宗教的慈善・救貧思想とその実践が有した歴史的意義を解明し、後の福祉国家の成立過程において果たした役割とその現代的射程を検証する。そのうえで、現代の福祉国家が直面する危機の本質を問い直す前提ともなる新しい歴史的視座の獲得を目指す。
