Outline of Research at the Start

This research project examines how how Japanese companies are shifting their HR strategies, value chains, international collaborations and overseas investments in response to uncertainty caused by the recent rise in nationalism and geopolitical tensions. Using interviews, surveys and other larger data sets, the research aims to infor not only what the impact of nationalism and geopolitical tensions are on the performance of Japanese companies, but also to highlight strategies by which Japanese firms are avoiding, mitigating and even leveraging nationalistic sentiments in the global economy.
