Outline of Research at the Start

本研究は、ヒト培養血管平滑筋細胞を用いて、IL-6などの炎症性サイトカインが血管石灰化を促進する機序を、特にCPPの成熟過程に注目して解明する。さらに、慢性腎臓病(CKD)マウスを用いて、血管石灰化やその他の炎症性サイトカインに関連した臓器障害が、抗IL-6抗体などの抗サイトカイン抗体を投薬して改善するかどうかを確認する。

本研究を通じて、IL-6に代表される炎症性サイトカインが、どのような機序でCPPの成熟ひいては血管石灰化を促し、また間接的な経路で貧血や栄養障害が血管石灰化を促進するのか、ミネラル制御システムの破綻につながるのか、この点を明らかにする実験となっている。
