Outline of Research at the Start

第一次世界大戦においてドイツ帝国軍により史上初めて大規模に投入された毒ガス兵器は兵士たちにトラウマ的な記憶を残した。戦後ヴァイマル期の文学作品や映画に登場する〈毒ガス〉表象は、戦時中には〈友／敵〉の二元論によって縮減されていた〈毒ガス〉のもつ両義性をあらわにする。
本研究では、ヴァイマル期の文学・映画における〈毒ガス〉表象の比較・分析を行ない、メディアの差異によって生じる意味論の変異を測定する。さらに、この表象は〈友／敵〉の政治的二元論を脱構築する傾向をもつがゆえに、反戦平和主義の寓意的形象をなすとともに〈万人の万人に対する闘争〉を帰結する逆説をはらんでいるという仮説を検証する。
