| Outline of Research at the Start |
日本近海に生息する深海性のクサウオ科魚類を用いて、集団、個体、分子レベルのそれぞれにおける生物の動向を明らかにし、昨今の海洋環境変動と深海性魚類の関係性を解明する。ゲノム情報に基づく系統地理学的な解析と、飼育実験に基づく観察および耳石を用いた化学分析による行動学的解析、更には初期発生胚を用いた発現遺伝子解析といった多面的なアプローチによって、過去から現在にかけての環境と生物の時空間変動を探り、将来の予測へ繋げていくことを目指している。
