Outline of Final Research Achievements |
(1) Issues associated with the Act on the Safety of Regenerative Medicine: official websites of clinics that provided medical treatment at one's own expense were analyzed and 74 clinics with 247 such treatments were identified; it was found that there were many treatments that had deviated from the international guidelines as well as that there were inappropriate websites with regard to advertisement regulations. (2) A survey on the general public's and researchers' attitudes: a questionnaire was administered to 520 citizens and 105 iPS cell researchers, and it was found that 60% of the general public and 80% of the researchers answered affirmatively to the question on the creation of human-pig chimeras. (3) A survey on the ethical support structure of stem cell research: a hearing was conducted on both office clerks responsible for the ethical screening and researchers in bioethics in three colleges in the US, and it was found that the separation of their roles was relatively clear.
