Outline of Final Research Achievements |
It is said that the importance of religion in the public sphere has been reduced through modern secularization. But in modern times religion is a source of human imaginaries of various modes of human coexistence - attitude towards the natural environment, justification of political power, evaluation of society and individuals, motivation for life etc.- and has played an important role in both positive and negative sense. This research aims to reveal such ambiguity that religion has fulfilled and its multiplicity by historical contexts from the texts of Friedrich Nietzsche, Martin Heidegger, and Reinhold Niebuhr, and to elucidate the ideas they conceived especially on liberal democracy from their historical and ideological background.
