Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Giovanni Animuccia served as magister cantorum in the Cappella Giulia at St. Peters during the Catholic Reformation. His Missarum Liber Primus, which was published by the heirs of Dorico in 1567 in Rome, is an example of the music sung in the Vatican immediately after the Council ended in 1563. Corrections and additions are found in some of the primary sources I have examined. This research reveals that Animuccia's masses had been sung for a while after his death, at least at St. Peter’s and other institutions in Rome.
