Studies of literary works are rather mature in the field of Indology. Taking the Sanskrit Epic Mahabharata as an example, I have tried to apply the methods in the field of Japanese classical literature, oral literature and comparative mythology to the study of Indian mythology. As a result, many interesting aspects of universality, individuality and literary features of Indian myths have been clarified.
