Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The present study investigated how the different types of learners' bottom-up processing is promoted by the repetitions of "reading aloud"," and "copying" techniques. The different types of learners are classified on the basis of reading and spelling abilities. Learners who are better than average in reading but poor at spelling are classified as Good Reader Poor Speller (R+S-). On the other hand, learners who are poorer than average in reading but good at spelling are classified as Poor Reader Good Speller (R-S+). After these learners practiced "reading aloud" seven times and "copying" three times respectively, it was found out that R+S- type learners needed to practice four times in reading aloud, and three times in copying to catch up with Good Reader Good Speller learners' processing level. As for R-S+ learners, they needed three times of repetitions in reading aloud, and two times of repetitions in coyping to catch up with Good Reader Good Speller learners' performance level.
