Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Expression of stressful experiences through writing is called “expressive writing”. This study assessed the effectiveness of expressive writing. The major findings of this study are as follows. First, writing on the assumption that someone reads, rather than no one reads, had a good influence on mood. Second, this study has demonstrated that writing about one's thoughts and feelings regarding stressful events on each of three weeks can reduce the participants’ levels of resilience. Further research is needed to assess more long-lasting effects of expressing writing.
