Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Cyclioisomaltooligosaccharide (CI)-producing bacteria, Paenibacillus sp. 598K produces CIs from starch with its two enzymes of cycloisomaltooligosaccharide glucanotransferase and dextranglucanase. The strain 598K release these two extracellular enzymes into the medium to produce CIs, intakes CIs, and then brakes them down with the intracellular dextranase, and finally use them as a source of nutrition. Another CI-producing bacterial strain Bacillus circulans T-3040 does not have dextranase to digest CIs. The strain T-3040 might not be able to utilize CIs, but it may be suitable for commercial CI-producing bacterial strain.
