Outline of Final Research Achievements |
We reported the abnormality of bone metabolism in gastrectomized rats. However, the effects of gastrectomy in multiple organs had not been clear. We examined the effect of gastrectomy on rat livers with analysis of gene expression, biochemistry, and histological changes. Microarray analysis identified 573 differential expressed genes in gastrectomized rat liver, and pathway analysis indicated statistically relationship between these genes and steroid signaling and lipid metabolism. In gastrectomized rats, serum ALT was increased, and small droplets were observed in hepatocyte. Furthermore, lethal events were significantly happened in gastrectomy rats. The case reports about liver dysfunction after gastrectomy have been reported, this study may explain the mechanisms of these cases.
