Olprinone, phosphodiesterase-3 inhibitor, improves the contractile functional recovery against stunned myocardium in hyperglycemic swine. Activation of phosphatidylinositol-3 kinase/Akt and protein kinase A would be involved in this cardioprotective mechanism.
