Outline of Final Research Achievements

The aim of this study is to elucidate the association of inflammation with basic mechanisms which induce skeletal muscle hypertrophy or atrophy. Although many suggestions on the association are there, clarifications of actual mechanisms are still incomplete.
In this term, we used mouse muscle hypertrophy and atrophy models, and cell culture models. These models were well established. In mice models, however, no significant difference was showed in the macrophage-detection as the main observation. Further observations on those models must contribute to the elucidations.
