| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This study tries to get an insight for institutional design to promote digital contents distribution focused on reducing the costs and simplifying the procedures for the use of contents. After field survey and analysis about efforts of the Digital Copyright Exchange (“DCE”) in South Korea and the United Kingdom, it turned out that, it is necessary 1) to increase the legal online content so that existing market can go on-line, 2) to aggregate the copyright information and expand the DB to grant an on-line one-stop licensing environment. Japan’s priority is to create a comprehensive and reliable copyright information database (“DB”) and to simplify the license procedure by building an on-line DB for licensing. Also, legislation may be considered for simplifying the license.
