Outline of Final Research Achievements

Secernin (SCRN)1 whose expression is detected in various tissues has been known to enhance the growth of many types of cells including cancer cells. In this study, our results suggest that change in SCRN1 expression can influence neuronal differentiation such as nurite outgrowth in neuronal cells. It was revealed that the fetal development is inhibited by decreased in expression of SCRN1 in SCRN1 gene trap mice. Since the expression level of SCRN1 is reduced in chick cerebellum under hypothyroid condition during fetal development, the results in this study are useful information to address new therapeutic approches of hypothyroid diseases.
