Outline of Final Research Achievements |
We developed evaluation criteria for patient-reported outcomes on the side effects of cancer chemotherapy, and made these criteria available to patients. We examined the usefulness of these criteria in common clinical practice and developed check sheets of side effects for each chemotherapy regimen. A patient evaluated the side effects (approximately 10 items) into four grades of criteria (Grade 0 to 3) with a mark sheet. We planned a survey to collect data from and interview outpatients who had undergone chemotherapy. We interviewed 20 patients, of whom 85 percent answered that the check sheet was useful. We created the evaluation criteria and check sheets based on the opinion of patients and medical staff. The provision of information using data from a storage and analysis system for side effects can be useful for cancer patients and their families. This system will be introduced in March 2018.
