Outline of Research at the Start

幕末期、幕府や諸藩は西洋から蒸気船を導入したが、その運用には蒸気機関の操作・修理といった高度な技術習得が不可欠であった。長崎海軍伝習所などが教育を担ったものの、練習船不足や対象の限定により諸藩には十分ではなかった。本研究は、この状況下で行われた諸藩間の技術移転を史料から明らかにするもので、特に佐賀藩・薩摩藩が他藩へ与えた影響や、藩士相互派遣による技術交流の実態を検討する。
