Research Abstract |
Research on primate behavior under natural setting showed a tremendous progress by adoption of a technique to identify each individual monkeys through observers eyes. However, this method has several difficulties for the analysis of learning process in monkeys troop. It is difficult to record precisely when and who made a response and to change the program of learning task accord with performance of individual members. Further, continuous observation for 24 hours by human observer is impossible. In order to overcome these difficulties a computerized electric device for identifying each individual monkeys has been developed by this project. The identifying device can discriminate ten different monkey collars which are located in the sensing field of 30X30X30 cm. A new feeder for monkey chow and an MSX-computer system for experimental control were also developed.
