Research Abstract |
In order to realize hydraulic conveying of snow, a new system of snow removal from urban area, the following devices have been developed : a snow feeder which mixes snow with water and feeds the mixture into the pipeline with a slurry pump, a snow concentration meter which measures the snow fraction of the mixture in situ, and a water separator for regulating the snow fraction. In the snow conveying experiments the choking of each devices was investigated with much attention and some of its causes were clarified. Thereafter, whole devices have shown good performance by introducing their appropriate methods of avoiding choking.
