| Research Abstract |
For lepidopterous insects taken in Thailand in 1987 the operations of preparing and labelling for permanent preservation and for scientific purpose have been perfectly finished.
An account is given of our researches, which were within the fiscal year 1988, as follows: In the Tineidae, 11 new and three known species of the Oriental genus Gerontha were described or recorded from Southeast Asia. Of these species, six new and one known species were added to the Thai fauna.
In the Sesiidae, a new and an already known Trilochana and a Lenyra were added to the fauna of Thailand. These two genera, which have hitherto been unknown to the systematic position, were placed in the subfamily Parenthreninae.
In the Brachodidae, two known species of Phycodes were recorded from Thailand for the first time.
In the Oecophoridae, four new species of Periacma and its allies were described from Thailand, together with a newly-recorded species. Paradeuterogonia siamica, a new genus and species, was described from the specimens taken in Northeast Thailand.
In the Cosmopterigidae, Stagmatophira callistrepta (Meyrick), originally described from India, was new to the Thai fauna. This leaf miner was ascertained to be a pest of teak in Thailand.
In the Tortricidae, 125 olethreutine species belonging to 57 genera were dealt with; of these species 25 were described as new and 92 were added to the Thai fauna.
In the Pyralidae, nine species, including two new species, of Endotricha were recorded from Thailand. This is the first record of the genus from Thailand.
As the results of our taxonomic work, 178 species, belonging to 66 genera and representing 7 families of the Lepidoptera, were reported. Of these taxa, 16 genera and 37 species were described as new to science; 57 known genera and 104 known species were added to the Thai fauna.
