研究概要

被子植物における配偶子融合過程および受精卵の活性化・初期発生過程の分子基盤を明らかにすることを目的として、研究を推進した。イネ雌雄配偶子・受精卵のオーム解析および同定遺伝子の機能解析により、生殖過程に関与する遺伝子が特定された。さらには、受精卵中における核融合（核の合一）過程の動態観察、および核合一ステージを指標とした初期発達受精卵の分子生物学的解析により、受精誘導性遺伝子の発現機構の一端を明らかにした。
これらの結果は、発生学および植物学分野に対する共通基礎的な知見を提供し、かつ、卵細胞から受精卵への変換メカニズムを支える分子基盤の解明につながるものである。
