研究成果の概要

推移的推論（三段論法）機能の神経メカニズムを明らかにするために、推論課題遂行中のサル前頭前野と大脳基底核（尾状核）から神経活動を記録した。前頭前野には、尾状核とは異なり、カテゴリー形成メカニズムがあり、これが推移的推論を可能にしていることを明らかにした。
また、ウイルスベクターを使って人工受容体（DREADDs）を発現させることにより、前頭前野から尾状核への情報伝達を遮断する実験も行った。この神経回路の選択的遮断により、長期的報酬予測を行う能力が低下することが明らかになった。
