研究概要

本研究課題はロシア極東域に生息する魚類の各分類群について分布調査を行ない、その遺伝的類縁性及び系統類縁関係について研究し、それらの魚類の生態学的特性、地理的分布特性などを調査し、極東水域全体における魚類の起源、種分化、および系統分散機構について総合的に考察することを目的として行われた。3年間の研究期間を通じて、計画の立案および実施の円滑化を図るために計15名の研究者を浅海域調査班と淡水域調査班の2班に分け研究および調査活動を行った。
平成6年度においては、浅海域調査班6名(現地参加2名を含む)が平成6年8月14日-同年9月4日の期間、沿海州南部のウラジオストク、オリガ湾周辺、リムスキー・コルサコフ諸島周辺を中心とした浅海域における魚類相調査を行い、約60種-3,500個体の採集し標本として持ち帰り、分類査定、地理的変異性などについての形態学的解析を行った。採集された浅海性魚類の中にはカジカ科およびハゼ科の未記載種がそれぞれ1種含まれていたことをはじめ、タウエガジ科の5種では従来の知見のなかった色彩および形態形質に関する広範囲の変異性が確認された。また淡水調査班4名は平成6年8月18日-同年9月8日の期間、ウラジオストク周辺の5河川およびサハリン南部の4河川において淡水魚類相の調査と集団遺伝学的解析用の標本を採集した。沿海州では6科25種が、またサハリン南部では7科20種が採集され、凍結サンプルとして持ち帰り、北日本の集団も含めて集団遺伝学的に解析を行った。
平成7年度においては、浅海域調査班3名が平成7年7月13日-同年8月24日の期間、沿海州中部オリガ湾周辺、サハリン北部およびオホーツク海北西部シャンタスキー諸島周辺を中心に調査を行い、75種約2300個体の浅海性魚類を採集し標本として持ち帰った。この中で、特にシャンタスキー諸島周辺海域に生息する魚類についての情報は極めて乏しい状況にあったが、本調査においてこの海域で9目19科61種の魚類を確認した。この中には未記載種の可能性の高い2種、オホーツク海での初記録種2種、本海域での生息が初めて確認された20種が含まれる。また、この海域は比較的低緯度にもかかわらず主に極域に生息する魚類も分布することも確認されるなど浅海性魚類の種多様性が極めて高いことが明らかになった。また、淡水域調査班4名は平成7年8月18日-同年9月8日の期間、朝鮮との国境に近いハサン地域の河川、ハバロフスク周辺のアムール川支流およびマガダン地域の河川において採集調査を実施し、淡水魚類11種約1000個体を採集し、遺伝学的解析用として凍結標本として持ち帰った。
平成8年度には3班を韓国およびロシア極東域に派遣し、現地調査を行った。淡水域調査A班2名は平成8年5月2日-同年5月12日の期間、韓国北東部の河川、湖沼域において淡水魚類相の調査と形態学的および集団遺伝学的解析用の魚類標本17科約60種を採集した。淡水域調査B班2名は現地参加したロシア研究分担者1名とともに平成8年8月18日-同年9月5日の期間、カムチャツカ半島東南部周辺の4河川において淡水魚類相の調査と集団遺伝学的解析用の魚類標本9種約600個体を採集した。また研究代表者は浅海調査班として平成8年8月17日-同年8月22日の期間にウラジオストク周辺の浅海域において魚類相調査を行い、約25種300個体の海産魚類を採集した。同時に過去3年間の本研究課題の実施に当たり絶大なる協力を賜ったロシア科学アカデミー極東支部海洋生物研究所のKasyanov所長をはじめとする多くの研究者に対して感謝の意を伝えるとともに、今後の多面的な研究協力体制と共同研究課題について協議した。また、平成8年10月には米国の研究分担者1名を、平成9年2月にはロシアの研究分担者3名を招へいし本研究課題に関するワークショップを行い、研究成果の発表と討議を行った。なお、各研究成果については平成9年3月に研究成果報告書としてまとめられた。本研究の過程で採集された魚類標本は北海道大学水産学部生物標本館および国立科学博物館に保管されている。
