研究概要

3年目の本年度も着実に進展した。川口は、北太平洋亜寒帯生態系の食物連鎖構造の東西比較を、白鳳丸を用いて行うとともにハダカイワシ科魚類の日周鉛直移動のパターン、群集組成の変動を物理環境変動と関連ずけた。中田は,黒潮の流路変化に伴うイワシ類の魚種交替仮説を示し、黒潮続流の縁辺部と黒潮-親潮移行域の変動が仔稚魚期の摂餌や成長に及ぼす影響について検討した。渡辺は、マイワシ資源減少の原因が仔魚期〜稚魚期の減耗にあること、マイワシ、サンマ仔魚期の成長様式が黒潮と移行域で大きく違うことを明らかにした。平野は、魚類の鰓に存在する塩類細胞の機能が分化に関与する内分泌系の実験的研究を行い、ブリ、マダイ仔魚を甲状腺ホルモンで処理すると初期生残が向上することを見出した。杉本は、亜熱帯・水域の動植物プランクトン湿重量の経年変動特性、アラスカ湾や北大西洋等との違いの原因等の分析を進展させた。また、寺崎、青木、中田、渡辺等とともに白鳳丸による集中観測を実施した。松宮は統計的解析手法の検討を進めた。なお、4月にスクリップス海洋研究所のM.Mullin教授が来日した機会に、双方の研究の現況について紹介しあうとともに、今後海洋生態系研究の環太平洋的なリンクの中核として、共同研究をより活発にする必要性を確認した。また、平野が5月にスクリップス海洋研究所を訪問して、研究の今後の展望、両研究所間の共同研究の展開について議論した。また、最近顕著になったエルニーニョ現象の影響も話題に登った。さらに3月には、川口がスクリップス海洋研究所を訪問し、本研究の統括的議論を行う予定である。
