研究概要

〇Al_<72>Ni_<20>Co_8,Al_<73>Ni_<22>Fe_5デカゴナル準結晶
従来の高分解能電子顕微鏡観察等の結果から,その原子クラスターが十回対称であると信じられてきたAl_<72>Ni_<20>Co_8デカゴナル準結晶に対してHAADF観察を行い,この原子クラスターが鏡映対称のみしか持たないことを初めて明らかにした.さらにこの鏡映対称クラスターが,近似結晶中に含まれる原子クラスターによって構成されていることを見出し,新しい構造モデルを作成した.またAl_<72>Ni_<20>Co_8と同様の構造をもつ二例目のデカゴナル準結晶をAl_<73>Ni_<22>Fe_5合金において見出した.
〇Al-Ni-Fe系非中心対称デカゴナル準結晶
われわれは以前,高分解能電子顕微鏡観察によってAl-Ni-Fe系合金に五回対称のクラスターからなる非中心対称デカゴナル準結晶を初めて発見した.今回,この合金系にHAADF法を適用し,この原子クラスターが確かに五回対称であることを明らかにし,これまでの結果が正しいことを確認した.さらにHAADF像および近似結晶構造にもとづき構造モデルを作成した.また従来の電子顕微鏡観察では困難であった反転分域境界における反位相シフトのHAADF法による直接観察にも初めて成功した.
〇Al-FeおよびAl-Co系近似結晶
構造がすでに解かれている近似度の低いAl-Fe近似結晶のHAADF観察を行い,HAADF法が重い原子を選択的に示すことを確認した.この結果をふまえて近似度の高いAl-Co系近似結晶のHAADF観察を行った結果,デカゴナル準結晶とほぼ同じ構造の原子クラスターが形成していることを明らかにした.HAADF像および低次の近似結晶構造をもとに近似度の高い近似結晶の構造モデルを作成した.また準結晶と近似結晶の原子クラスター配列の比較から,近似結晶構造から準結晶へ発展を説明する新しい準結晶形成モデルを提案した.
