研究概要

量子ドットによる遠赤外光領域での単一光子検出の成果を中心にして発展させる計測技術を応用して半導体量子構造の理解を進展させること、および、量子多体系の位相制御を目指す研究を行い、以下の成果を得た。第一に、新たな走査型テラヘルツ顕微鏡を超高感度検出器に応じて数種類開拓し、それを量子ホール電子系研究に応用して非平衡電子生成のダイナミクスを解明した。最大の成果として、量子ドットによる単一光子検出器を搭載する顕微鏡を開発して応用することにより、フォトカウンティング計測によるテラヘルツイメージングを世界で始めて実現し、それにより、hot spots(電流注入・抽出箇所)の非平衡電子のエネルギー分布、ポテンシャル障壁による非平衡分布生成のダイナミクス、端状態の非平衡分布ダイナミクスを解明したことが挙げられる。第二に、量子ホール電子系のスピン分離した端状態を用いて、核スピン分極の生成、コヒーレント制御、高感度検出を全て電気的に行うことに成功し、さらにこれらの効果を利用して、核スピン分極のナノメーター分解能の顕微計測法を開発し、核スピンの空間分布をナノメートル精度で始めて明らかにすると共に、核スピン分極生成や拡散のダイナミクスを明らかにした。さらに、量子ホール電子系の閉じ込めポテンシャルの勾配が核スピン生成にとり重要なパラメータであることを見出し、核スピン偏極をプローブとして端状態の新たなスペクトロスコピーを行える可能性を示した。
