研究実績の概要 |
As of the beginning of 2014 I was able to uncover a comprehensive number of primary sources that document Japan’s participation in the territorial delineation between the Yugoslav kingdom and Hungary after 1921. I was also able to uncover sources that document Japan’s activities in border settlements among other Central European and East European nations. This has proved to be a significant contribution to our better understanding of Japan's role in the postwar settlements after the Paris peace conference in 1919.
Since the end of 2014 I have been actively participating in conferences and workshops where I am presenting the research findings. In December 2014 I attended the second workshop of the Slovenia-Japan Joint Research: The 20th Century through Historiographies and Textbooks in Japan and Slovenia (Tokyo, December 18 – 19, 2014) where I presented publicly the results for the first time. In February 22, 2015 I was invited to attend a conference on Japan’s role in World War I organized by the Kyoto University. I will be attending the second conference at the same university this June, which will be followed by publishing a multivolume monograph on the latest research on Japan's role in World War I by the beginning of 2016. The present study will be part of the monograph, covering Japan's relations with non-Asian countries during the Great War.
