研究概要

海洋に分布する植物プランクトンは様々な多数の色素を保有しているが、種類により独特な色素を持っている。この固有色素は高速液体クロマトグラフ(HPLC)により個別に分析が可能で、この分析機を用いて西部北太平洋亜寒帯海域における色素分布の季節変化を調べることにより、植物プランクトンの分布と海洋環境の関係を把握し、そして検討することを目的に研究を行った。
そのために、東北区水産研究所・北海道区水産研究所が設定した親潮域定点で季節的に得た植物プランクトン試料の色素試料の分析を定期的に行った。得られた試料の培養のため低温培養機(備品購入)、得られた試料の画像作成のために顕微鏡用デジカメ用レンズ(備品購入)を用いた。また、植物色素分析および植物の電子顕微鏡観察には学生の研究補助を得て行った(謝金使用)。これらの研究実施に際し、今年度研究実施計画を立案し、試料採集航海の検討および分析結果の検討を行なった(旅費申請)。
色素分析結果から、西部北太平洋亜寒帯域(親潮域)においては通年、珪藻類が優先するものの、春の春季大増殖前の4月には渦鞭毛藻類と円石藻類、5-7月の大増殖期は珪藻類が植物プランクトン現存量で重要な役割を演じ、現存量の少ない10月は円石藻類の重要性が増すことが明らかとなった。海洋環境との植物プランクトン分布の対応関係についてはまだ解析中であるが、珪藻類は低温・低塩分、円石藻類は高温・高塩分の水塊を好む傾向が認められた。
現在は,これまでの色素分析・電子顕微鏡観察の継続とともに、得られた結果の外国での発表と印刷発表のための準備をっている。
