研究概要

必須元素である鉄の吸収と体内移行に働く輸送体遺伝子を単離しその機能を明らかにした。鉄栄養制御の分子機構において中心となる転写因子を発見し、鉄欠乏応答遺伝子発現制御のネットワークの概容を明らかにした。鉄栄養に関与する遺伝子群を利用して多くのアルカリ土壌耐性イネを作出し圃場検定した。また貧血症改善に効果のある鉄含量の高いコメの開発にも成功した。
