研究概要

本研究では西暦6~12世紀の古代トルコ系遊牧民の書き残した墓碑銘および岸壁画銘文の解読を通して彼らの聖山信仰や祖先信仰の実態を分析考察した。その結果、草原中の岩場には狩猟場面や鹿や山羊など多くの野獣が描かれていることから、彼らがこの岩に対して来世においても、死者に豊穣な獲物がもたらされることを祈願していたこと、銘文からはここに彼らの祖先の霊が降臨する場として認識されていたことがわかり、彼らの聖山信仰の実態が明らかになった
