研究概要

海洋コアの同一層準から産出する浮遊性有孔虫殻のAMS14C年代測定と暦年代とほぼ等しいU-Th年代測定を同時に行い,その年代差から過去5万年における海洋リザーバー効果の評価をおこなうことを目的とする.試料として供される有孔虫殻は微量であるが,近年開発されたマルチコレクター型ICP-MS(MC-ICP-MS)では,UおよびTh同位体比測定が微量かつ精密に測定でき,極めて精度の高い230Th/234U年代測定法を行うことが出来る.これを堆積速度の速い海洋コアに適応し連続的に測定を行えば,各海域における海洋リザーバー効果による経年変化の評価ができ,その補正曲線を構築することが可能になる.このことは,氷床-陸上-海洋と異なる編年のもとで復元される過去の環境変動を同一時間スケールで議論することが可能になり,全球的な古環境復元の進展につながる.東赤道太平洋域の海洋コア3本でおこなったAMS14C年代測定(済)と同層準から産出する浮遊性有孔虫殻のU、Th同位体比測定を中心に行った。有孔虫殻に含まれるUとTh濃度の確認と不純物を取り除く前処理に必要な量を決定した.さらに,それに対し実際必要となる有孔虫の重量(個体数)を決定した.現在,AMS14C年代法で見積もられた5万年前までの堆積物から10層準の追加拾い出しを終え,MC-ICP-MS測定を行う溶液を作成し,230Th/234U年代測定を行っている.その結果から,AMS14C年代と比較し,海洋リザーバー効果の評価を行う.
