研究概要

1億年前の海洋底の岩石が大規模に露出しているオマーンオフィオライトについて現地調査と化学分析を行った。現地調査では,高温の沈み込み帯のみで形成される火山岩(ボニナイト)の広範な分布を明らかにした。化学分析からは,沈み込み帯形成最初期に形成されたマグマがいずれも,高温のマントル中に沈み込んだ角閃岩相(500～700℃)の海洋地殻から放出された流体の影響の下に形成されたことを明らかにした。
