本課題研究では、旧ユーゴ諸国、とりわけユーゴ戦争当事国であったクロアチア、セルビア、ボスニアにおけるメディア状況とそこに現れる言説を研究対象とした。そして、人々のアイデンティティーのあり方がどのように言語化され、また言語化されたものによって集団のイメージがどう形成されるかを、現地で発行されている新聞・雑誌に用いられる特定の語の分布分析や語連想による語の意味分析によって明らかにし、こうした言語分析の手法が社会心理学的問題を考察するためにも有効な方法であることを示した
