研究概要

腸管上皮の自然免疫機能に関与しうる分子として見出したRegIVの機能を明らかにすることを目的として研究を行った。その結果、RegIVがマンナンなどの糖鎖に結合すること、さらにグラム陽性菌・陰性菌および真菌に対し、その増殖を抑制する作用を有することを見いだした。これらのことからRegIVは腸管上皮より分泌されるレクチンであり、幅広い微生物に対して抗菌作用を示して、感染防御や腸内フローラ制御に重要な役割を担っていることが示唆された。
