研究成果の概要

本研究は、安全保障、軍・民関係、言語邂逅の視点から終戦後の日本における占領の展開および統治制度の変革について検討した。戦後体制の形成に関して、安全保障の視点を用いて、統治枠組みや政府間コミュニケーションの関連で理論化および比較研究を試みた。考察の結果、次の知見を得た。（1）軍事占領という特異な社会状態において、人々の移動、感染症の蔓延、選挙活動など日常的・地域的な次元が安全保障化され、治安の維持や体制の変革に影響を及ぼしうる。（2）重複する統治機構や占領・被占領組織間の連絡体制や交渉は、文化的・エスニシティ的な背景が異なるゆえ、意図しない誤解やコミュニケーション障害の発端となりうる。

研究成果の学術的意義や社会的意義

終戦後の占領体制の形成および統治制度の変革への安全保障、軍・民関係、言語邂逅からの取り組みは、これまでの日本の占領史研究の中で資料は少なく、十分に検討されてこなかったテーマである。これらの課題を解明することにより占領期の軍事・政治過程に理解を深め、また戦後の統治構造のプロセス的な背景について考察したことに学術的な意義がある。また、地方の動向を取り上げたこと、国際会議での報告や論文発表、書籍の刊行を通じて研究成果の公表、アウトリーチ活動につとめたことに社会的な意義がある。
