研究概要

3つの基本プロジェクト(1)ミトコンドリアDNA維持機構の基礎研究、(2)ミトコンドリアDNA検査診断システム、(3)体細胞ミトコンドリアDNA解析を融合させ、体系的なミトコンドリアDNA検査診断システムを構築し、大学内外からの検査依頼の応じられるようになった。マウスを用いて、ミトコンドリアDNAの保護が自然老化の進行を抑制できることを示した。さらに九州大学の「久山町コホート研究」で集められた約3千例のDNAサンプルのミトコンドリアDNA配列を決定し、糖尿病発症との関連を解析している。
