研究概要

近年、地域経済学において主たる研究領域である集積の経済学、及びその一般化としての空間経済学において、本研究は、初めて、地図上で経済集積の検出を行うための統計分析手法を提示し、集積の規模・数・間隔等、集積の空間パターンに関する実証研究の基礎を築いた。また、これを日本のデータに適用して、都市の産業構造・人口規模間に存在する階層性やNumber-Average Size(NAS)法則等の頑強な秩序の存在を新たに発見し、分析手法の整備のみならず、空間経済学における理論的発展を誘発する新たな実証的事実の発見にも貢献した。
