研究概要

延髄呼吸中枢には,少なくとも2種類の呼吸性リズムジェネレーターが存在する:プレベッチンガーコンプレックス(pre-BotC)と傍顔面呼吸ニューロングループ(pFRG)である.本研究ではこれらのニューロングループ間での相互作用による呼吸の基本リズムの決定の仕組みを調べた.その結果,pFRGが少なくとも生後直後では、呼吸リズムの基本周期を決定し,中枢化学受容器(特にCO2の受容)としても重要な機能を有していること,このために、生後の生存に不可欠な役割を果たしていることが分かってきた.
